Piano Hero

A few months back I bought the game Guitar Hero 3 for my Xbox 360. This is a great game, but its steps between difficulties are a little too high for me. I’ve beat the game on easy and medium, but I’ve only been able to complete a few songs on hard.

I started practicing, so that I could get better, which started to bother me, because I don’t want to have to sit and practice in a game, because it really is no fun. Also I got tired of playing the same songs over and over again. I then decided that rather than spend my time doing this, I would take up the piano.

Now if you know me well, you know that I love the piano. It is by far my favorite instrument. We only had a 61 key keyboard growing up that was pretty much a pain to access, so I never took the time to learn to play. I mean I probably could have learned on it, but I didn’t. So now, I’m taking lessons from a friend and former colleague of mine named Zak.

The unfortunate thing is that I still only have a 61 key Casio to learn on, so every time I have a lesson, when I play on a piano with actual weighted keys and a full keyboard, my fingers get tired. After a few weeks of looking on ksl.com for a cheap piano to buy, I’ve decided to go for a digital one. And after obsessing for many weeks now, I’ve decided I want this one, the Yamaha YPG-625.

This keyboard is awesome. It has a full weighted keyboard, and it actually sounds like a piano. It’s got tons and tons of features, including usb connectivity and you can plug a thumb drive into it to record your own songs etc. It’s won a few awards and has had great reviews. So now I’m just waiting till tax return time, then I’ll be getting a nice new piano-ish keyboard. Yee ha. Hit the link above to read all about its features.
