Some candles should remain hidden under a bushel

My wife and I are big fans of Josh Groban.  I myself really enjoy singing so to hear someone sing as well as him makes me happy and I also can understand how difficult it can be to sing at the level that he does.  I consider him to be one of the most talented male vocalists in the world.  So naturally I was kind of excited to see him perform on the Emmy awards.  That was actually one of the only reasons I was watching the show.  Unfortunately, he didn't perform one of his amazing ballads or anything of the type.  Instead, he sang a medley of TV theme songs which I thought was a horrible horrible waste of his talent.  What do you think???

This is him singing with Sarah of my favorite duets ever.

This is him singing at the of my most detested performances ever.

Who would you pick from the cream of the crap?

It's September 11th today.  Seven years ago terrorists pulled off the worst attack in the history of this once great nation for reasons that most people don't understand.  Has the world gotten better since?  Debatable. Are we safer now? Probably not.  But, is it a whole heck of a lot more inconvenient and expensive to travel?  Oh yes. Well at least something changed right?

As I sit and think about the events of that day and what has happened in this country since, I can't help but feel a sense of great fear for what is to come.  The world has moved from black and white to this giant gray blob where no one seems to know the difference between right and wrong anymore.

Now we are moving into a new era with a new "leader" to vote for,  and once again, rather than giving us worthwhile choices, we are having to pull our hair out to decide who would be worse, and to vote against, rather than who would be better, and to vote for.

Now, I mostly try to stay away from politics and things that will upset people in my blog (because it's supposed to be about things that piss me off), but I'm so tired of our two current candidates picking on each other instead of tackling what matters.  Trying to make the other candidate look worse does not make you look better.  How about showing us why we should vote for you rather than why we shouldn't vote for the other guy?  Novel concept I know, but seriously, this has gone past stupid and into ridiculous.  Can't we get past "lipstick" and "he's just like Bush" and into something important?  Don't tell me anymore why the other guy will fail, tell me why you will succeed and how you'll make this country better.  Isn't that what we all better our nation?  If not, then maybe we're getting what we deserve.  A crappy leader for a crappy country.

A moment lasts all of a second, but the memory lives on forever.

1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you. If you don't want to play on your blog, or if you don't have a blog, I'll leave my memory of you in my comments. EVERYBODY PLAY! I want to see what memories are out there!
