I can’t possibly like this, I’m a guy.

Been a while since I updated. So I figured I should.

A coworker of mine had a book sitting on his desk one day that caught my eye.  The book was called Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.  Basically, a guy named Seth Grahame-Smith took Jane Austin’s classic and added zombies.

Now, being a fan of horror and usually against romance stories, this intrigued me.  I decided I would read this book, but, to the end that I would more fully enjoy it, I decided to read the original Pride and Prejudice first.

I started reading in, completely expecting to dislike it, but I couldn’t.  I enjoyed every page.  It sucked me in till I was wanting so badly for them to get together even to the point that I couldn’t help but tear up when Mr. Darcy said, “If your feelings are still what they were last April, tell me so at once. My affections and wishes are unchanged, but one word from you will silence me on this subject for ever.

I actually felt for this man.  This non-existent creation of some lonely woman’s mind, and was taken in completely.  Even thinking about it now I’m getting misty.

Needless to say, this was the very last thing I expected from this book.  I liked it.  I probably enjoyed it more than any book I’ve read in the past ten years.  I liked it so much that now while reading Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, I’m not enjoying it as much as I thought I would.  At times I’m actually annoyed at what he did with this book which I now love.  But, that won’t stop me from reading it and enjoying it as well.

  1. Thanks for the heads up. Now, I'll be sure to skip P&P and go straight for the zomies. Maybe they should make a movie version.
